Silver Trowel offer a variety of construction skills training courses for bricklaying, solid plastering and roof tiling as well as trade apprenticeship training in bricklaying, roof tiling and solid plastering; traineeships in concreting and general construction. Silver Trowel’s two week intensive bricklaying skills course provides job placement assistance within the construction industry on successful completion of the course.

Company History

Established in 1997, Silver Trowel was founded on a belief that there are more efficient ways of helping people enter the building industry. Recognising a massive shortage of skilled workers within the industry, Jon Skerratt set out to achieve the impossible. With fewer and fewer people taking up trade positions along with an unprecedented building boom in Australia the demand for skilled workers is greater than ever.

Today, with incredible success, Silver Trowel are recognised by builders and government agencies for their commitment to helping men and women of all ages find rewarding and well paid careers within the building and construction industry.

As a leading provider of quality education and training for the building and construction industry, our aim is to promote and enhance the skills of industry in Western Australia and for our students to achieve excellence in their chosen field.

We are well supported by industry and have been awarded the highest rating of three gold stars by the Australian Institute of Trade Skills Excellence. We were also winners of the 2010 Australian Ethnic Business Awards, the 2009 WA Industry and Export Awards for Education and Training and the 2008 and 2010 WA Industry and Export Awards for Emerging Exporters of International Education.

Professional Staff

As a fully Western Australian owned and operated private training organisation and with company directors who have building industry and educational backgrounds, we believe there are no shortcuts to quality education and training.

Our facilitation staff all possess extensive experience gained through employment in the private sector, government and commerce. All our trainers are fully certified and hold at a minimum Certificate IV Training and Assessment.
